Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to make it work, remember your choices, and understand how it is used. We also use similar technologies like pixels, local storage, and SDKs. We call all of these "cookies" here.

2. What we use, and what we do not

This Site uses two kinds of technology, and only one of them needs your permission. Our own analytics run without cookies and are always on. Advertising cookies from Meta are set only if you accept them on the notice you see on your first visit. We do not use Google Analytics, and we run no other advertising or cross-site tracking.

• Strictly necessary: we store one item in your browser's session storage so the intro animation does not replay on every page during a visit. It clears when you close the tab, and it is not used to identify you. We also keep your cookie choice itself in local storage, so we do not ask you again on every page.
• Functional: on our Amsterdam Unlocked pages, your browser's local storage remembers the events you save, the ones you mark as tickets secured, the rave name you choose, and whether you have already signed up, so your plan is still there when you come back. Your saved list stays on your device and we never receive it. The one exception is when you choose to act: if you sign the Fam Wall or check in at an event, what you submit is sent to us, together with a short code for your device that we use to moderate. That is explained in our Privacy Policy.
• Analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics and PostHog to count how the Site is used. Neither sets cookies here. Both work from a random identifier we keep in your browser's local storage so that one person browsing several pages counts once instead of several times. That identifier is a random string. It is never your name, email or phone, it is never used to advertise to you, and it is never used to follow you onto other websites. If you sign the Fam Wall or check in at an event, we send a separate short code that is derived from this identifier by a one-way scramble, so it cannot be read back to reveal the identifier itself. We use that code only to moderate the wall and to count check-ins, not to connect what you post to your browsing. We do not switch on autocapture or session recording, so what you type is never collected.
• Advertising (Meta): if you accept, we load the Meta pixel, a small script from Meta Platforms. It sets a cookie called _fbp and reads one called _fbc. We use it for two things: to measure whether our ads on Facebook and Instagram led to a visit or a signup, and to show our ads to people who have visited this Site. Meta also uses what the pixel collects under its own rules, described in Meta's cookie policy. If you decline, none of this loads. The details are in the next section.

3. Advertising cookies and your choice

The first time you visit, a small notice at the bottom of the page asks whether we can set advertising cookies from Meta. Nothing loads until you answer. The two buttons are equal: there is no hidden default, no box ticked for you, and nothing you do other than tapping Accept counts as a yes.

• If you accept, the Meta pixel loads on the pages you visit from then on. It sends Meta the pages you view on this Site, event names (a page view, a signup, a ticket click, an event you open, save or add to your calendar, a search, a video play, a link out to Laylo or a checkout), and technical data: your IP address, browser information, and the _fbp and _fbc identifiers. We never send your name or phone number, and never your email address in readable form. If you sign up through a form on this Site after accepting, our server sends Meta a hashed version of the email you entered: a one-way scramble that Meta can only match against an account already using that email, so the signup can be tied to our ads. The same events can also reach Meta from our server instead of your browser (Meta's Conversions API). They carry the same data and nothing more, and only while your choice is accept.
• If you decline, the pixel never loads and no Meta cookie is set. The Site works exactly the same.
• To change your mind, use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. It reopens the notice with your current choice shown. If you switch from accept to decline, we delete the _fbp and _fbc cookies and reload the page so the pixel stops.
• Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decline and do not show the notice. You can still accept from the footer link if you want to.
• Some pages never load the pixel, whatever you chose: the personal Amsterdam Unlocked pages (the Fam Wall, the night view and a plan a friend shared with you), and the Vibe Check when you open it from a personal link in our email.

Our merch store checkout runs on Shopify's own domain under Shopify's cookie controls, which are separate from this choice.

4. Cookies set by others

Some content we embed is served by other companies, and those companies may set their own cookies when you interact with it. This applies to our Join the Fam signup (Laylo), YouTube video embeds (we use privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie embeds, but playback may still set cookies), and Spotify players. Those parties control their own cookies under their own policies. Links out to Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms are governed by those sites once you arrive.

5. Your choices

• Cookie settings: the Cookie settings link in the footer lets you accept or decline advertising cookies at any time. For California residents this is also our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link.
• Browser controls: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The only cookies we set ourselves are the Meta advertising cookies you accept, so blocking cookies will not affect how this Site works.
• Clearing what we store: clearing site data for this Site in your browser removes the analytics identifier, your saved Amsterdam plan, your cookie choice, and any Meta cookies. Nothing is kept on our side that can bring them back. You will see the notice again on your next visit.
• Embedded content: if you would rather not receive cookies from an embed, do not interact with it, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
• Global Privacy Control: we honour the browser's Global Privacy Control signal. When your browser sends it, we treat it as declining advertising cookies: the pixel does not load and the notice does not appear.

6. Cookie list

Everything this Site can place in your browser, and why. Only the first two rows are cookies, and both exist only if you accept advertising cookies.

7. Changes and contact
